Q: Where do you go when you need a good burger in the Emerald City?
A: Zippy's Giant Burgers in West Seattle.
We first tried this place about a year ago after being lured in by the wonderful smell of charbroiled beef. Boy were we not disappointed! This has got to be the best burger I have ever had hands down. If I were to have a segment on The Best Thing I Ever Ate this would be it. I don't know the real secret behind their burgers and I don't want to know either. I want to keep coming back here as often as possible.
I do know this; they grid the beef fresh daily. Not many places do this anymore. I used to drive by here every morning between 6 and 9 am and they were already here peeping for the day. The day, not the week. This I know as well, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives (you know the show on Food Network that is hosted by the bleach blonde guy) approached them shortly after opening and after finding out that they don't prep their own fries declined to do a segment on Zippy's. Can you believe it, denied beause they buy frozen fries? Just crazy! Oh well all the better, it is worth the wait for my perfectly grilled burger but I don't want to have to wait longer because they were on Food Network.
You have to see the place to fully understand. There are 2 tables and a couple of counters to eat off of (good thing we live close). One of the coolest things here is the cooler of beverages, they have just about any type of cola product that you could want including some old memories from your youth, including Mexican Coke all one price, you get to pick whatever you want.

And let's no forget the hand dipped milkshakes and malts. What more could you want!
Now the burgers are just awesome! One is perfect but so good that it leaves you wanting more, even though you might not have the room for it. They are so good and well cooked.
There is this great stuff on the walls that most has been donated by other loyal customers. Stuff you have not seen since you were a kid, or maybe since your parents were kids. Old school stuff from McDonalds, Burger King, even Jack in the Box. Along with pictures from old counter burger joints from long ago.

This is one place that you have to drop by. Just don't come on Monday's their closed, better yet, don't even bother coming, I don't want to have to wait any longer because you are so entranced by the wonderful smell of freshly grilled burger and hot fries that you can't make up your mind from the dozen different (including kids meals) menu options. Just stay away... No really, please support your local businesses come on down and spend your hard paycheck on some of the best burgers that you will ever shove in your face. Oh and don't waste stomach space on the fries till you finish the burger!
